Sturgeon Tour with Dr. Matt Balazik: Thursday, September 4, 2014, 5:00 - 7:30pm

On Thursday evening, September 4, Discover the James presents the second annual series of Sturgeon Tours on the James River. This year each of the four sturgeon tours will feature Dr. Matt Balazik, who had been capturing and studying Atlantic sturgeon for over seven years now.  His knowledge of the sturgeon population on the James River is second to none. This two and one half hour tour on the Spirit of the James will depart from Jordan Point Marina at 5:00pm and return at approximately 7:30pm.

On Thursday evening, September 11, Discover the James presents a Sturgeon Tour and sunset cruise on the James River. This two and one half hour tour on the Spirit of the James will depart from Jordan Point Marina at 5:00pm and return at approximately 7:30pm.

On Saturday, May 10, the Sierra Club, Falls of the James Group and Discover the James present a sunset cruise on the James River, through an area known as Jefferson's Reach, to look for bald eagles, osprey, great blue heron and other animals. This three hour tour on the Spirit of the James will depart from Deep Bottom Park at 4:30pm and return at approximately 7:30pm.

The James River runs through it ... through the City of Richmond. And just minutes downriver is an incredible opportunity to view Civil War sites and learn about the incredible stories from 150 years ago. The James River is abundant in history and overloaded with beautiful scenery.

Ride aboard the Spirit of the James, a comfortable 40-foot covered pontoon boat and experience wildlife and history along the James River closer than you may have ever seen them. Space is limited to thirty people.
